Sharaku

About the author: Sharaku

I moved to Cebu a few years ago and live and work here. My motto is a relaxed, no-strain way of working, and I'm enjoying daily life on the island.

On weekends you'll find me walking uphill to the farmers market for vegetables, or renting a motorbike to explore the islands. Eating my way through street snacks and local eateries is one of my favorite things.

What I write about

The Cebu you won't find in a guidebook — the one you meet by actually living here — in five categories (25 English articles so far).

  • LifeMorning walks, neighborhood strolls, the farmers market — everyday life in Cebu.
  • TravelTrips from Cebu: Bohol, Camiguin, Moalboal, Osmeña Peak and more.
  • CultureThings I learned by living here, like Bisaya, the local language.
  • ShoppingThe 7D dried mango factory outlet, the farmers market, and other shopping stories.
  • FoodStreet snacks, Argao torta, karenderias (local eateries), and other local flavors.

How I write

  • Every article is based on places I actually went, food I actually ate, and things I experienced myself.
  • Unless otherwise noted, the photos are my own.
  • Prices, opening hours, and rules are as of my visit and may change, so I note the date in the article (for example, "as of August 2026").
  • The English articles are based on the original Japanese articles.
